HOME: A Winter Solstice Sound Experience

You are invited to join Elana Bell and me on December 20th for our annual Winter Solstice offering at the KIVA in Stone Ridge.

This will be an evening of sound, reflection, and exploration as we honor the darkness and welcome the coming light.

For this special solstice sound experience, we are thrilled to be collaborating with cellist and multi-instrumentalist Michele Schifferle-Marzulli.

The evening will include a sound journey as well as light refreshments, and will take place at the beautiful yurt temple in the back of the Marbletown Multi-Arts in Stone Ridge, NY.

Doors open at 6:45 pm, the sound experience will begin at 7 pm. Link in bio.

I have the privilege to work with Rachelle Pean again, providing sound on for another ancestral ketamine experience. This offering is a single-day event *requiring medical clearance. There were a number of interested people who couldn't get their clearance in time for the October date, so don't wait. Please sign up soon.

 

This 4 hour group experience will begin with a grounding practice, opening the space by asking our healed and loving ancestors to support the group journey, and we will then set intentions for what we want to release that did not begin with us: ancestral wounds, burdens, or a sense of attachment to patterns that are no longer needed. 

 

Rachelle will then invite everyone to create their own simple ancestral altar, as a way to connect symbolically with each of our abilities to tap into ancestral gifts and healing. This practice will be followed by a dose of ketamine where each person will be able to go into their own medicine experience where they will engage the effects of ketamine in their own unique way. 

 

There will be time at the end of this group circle to integrate, process, and write down messages, insights, or to simply (yet powerfully) slow down and feel the effects of our group intention and shared experience. 

 

This space is meant to be an opening and/or deepening for anyone who is curious about or being drawn to ancestral healing work. The work will be supported by the artful sound healing of Ben Brown.

 

Participants will be screened for fit and have a medical evaluation prior to the retreat for dosing and other health considerations.

 

Integration session the following week with group participants, optional.

HOMECOMING: A Healing Sound Journey

HOMECOMING is an exploration of early African American music and sound meditation as binding and healing mediums. This sound journey will take participants through the not-so-distant past to the present juncture of time.

 

America has written the complete African American narrative out of history and continues to try with cries of Critical Race Theory. These songs contain a portion of the record. The recordings are church, field and prison work, and a capella songs.

 

They tell the stories of a people, motivate change, and help ease the struggle of surviving extreme injustice.They record resilience, the pursuit of meaning, and the joy of living. While encountering these recordings, we honor the ancestors’ voices and reclaim the power of the first instrument, the human voice, to heal.

 

This offering reflects deep meditation and contemplations on what we know and are learning about history. As we dive deeper into the music, we can hear the elders speaking through time, not to be discarded or ignored. This project is not the experience of all Black people in America but rather a snapshot or dream of forgotten voices made present.

The tree may appear still, but if you look closer, you’ll see that each leaf flails with breath. The tree may seem alone, but plow deep and you’ll unearth its secret gnarled roots- the grotesque and the beautiful creeping in the soil, reaching toward the ancestors.” – Cole Arthur Riley

 

One of the paths to finding healing is to be seen and heard. The experience of HOMECOMING allows us to explore the boundaries between sound and healing. We hope to expand on the voices and experiences unacknowledged, unheard and unseen. This offering is is co-facilitated by Micah Blumenthal and myself at The Goodwork Institute, Kingston, New York.

These are working practices and will allow participants a chance to partake in the creation process of a sound offering.

Harmonizing with Malachite

Malachite harmonizes by looking at the body purely as frequencies that come together like a chorus, identifying vibrations that are "off key." Tune into your chorus of frequency and address the areas of dissonance to shift them into the harmony of your whole being amongst metal bowls and melodic shruti box.

Inner Hearing with Citrine

Open to the sound of spirit: Citrine is believed to clear and open our sense of inner hearing. This is an aspect of our intuitive body that perceives non-physical sound. Everything that has life energy has a sound vibration. Explore your inner hearing through the higher sound vibrations of quartz crystal bowls, tuning forks, koshi chimes and water.

Please note: this will be an outdoor event. We encourage you to dress accordingly. If there is concerning weather, we shall move into the neighboring parking garage.

It would also be beneficial to bring a notebook & pen for journaling. We have a No-Scent Policy to create a thoroughly comfortable and welcoming environment. (Please refrain from smoking, using perfume/cologne, and essential oils.)

For this very special HOME experience, we are thrilled to be collaborating with Adam Yasmin, who will be pouring tea.

Like sound, tea is an ancient immersive experience, an original human technology, which helps us modern folk to remember who we are beyond our digital tools and the attendant stresses that take hold of our consciousness, our attention, and our nervous systems. 

Adam Yasmin has been studying Chinese tea culture since 2009. He is also a certified emotional well-being coach and digital wellness educator helping individuals and businesses discover a tech/life balance that’s unique to their needs.

Take Care Fair is the first Hudson Valley interactive marketplace showcasing healing arts, living food, and a broad spectrum of supportive services for physical, mental and spiritual health.

Hudson River Exchange in collaboration with STELLAFAY will present the 2nd annual Take Care Fair on Saturday June 30th – Sunday July 1st at the Henry Hudson Riverfront Park in Hudson.

I'm offering mini sessions throughout the weekend and will deliver a class (Nourish Each Other: Partner Massage) June 30th at 2pm for couples to connect deeply and communicate through touch.
